As global temperatures, population, urbanization, and incomes rise in the coming decades, the demand for comfort cooling will increase at an unprecedented rate. While room air-conditioning was once thought of as a luxury, access to cooling is increasingly being viewed as a basic need — enhancing the health, productivity, and wellbeing of communities around the world.

However, this increase in demand for residential cooling will come at a significant cost to electricity systems and our climate, expected to contribute up to half a degree Celsius of warming by the end of the century. The Global Cooling Prize aims to catalyze a global cooling revolution by identifying a super-efficient and affordable comfort cooling technology that can provide access to cooling for all, without warming the planet.

At the U.S. launch event of the Global Cooling Prize, prominent policymakers, industry experts, thought leaders, and business leaders will come together to discuss the various technology solutions, policies, and business models that have the potential to solve the cooling challenge and share strategies to scale innovative and breakthrough cooling solutions in countries around the world.

Additionally, the event will be webcast live from this link.
